WDBO offers $1,000 reward for return of missing Lake Eola baby swans

$1000 reward offered for safe return of swan babies

Six baby swans, or cygnets, were stolen from Lake Eola park late Monday night or early Tuesday morning and now Cox Media Group (CMG) - Orlando is joining the desperate search for the swans by offering a $1,000 reward for their safe return.

CMG radio stations News 96.5 WDBO, Power 95.3, Star 94.5, K92.3 and WMMO 98.9 are all urging their listeners to help spread the word on the air and in social media.

"We're fortunate to have a loud megaphone to shout for 'help'," says CMG-Orlando GM/VP Susan Larkin, "And we have a building full of staff whose hearts are breaking for the momma swan and her newborn babies, so it only seems natural for our radios stations to jump into the effort to help get this swan family back together."

The cygnets were born Sunday, park rangers checked on them Monday night, they were missing by Tuesday morning.

We're told the Orlando Police Department is reviewing nearby security video for evidence of any suspects.

While there are swan predators in the park, namely dogs, it's not believed that these cygnets were the victim of natural predators, but human theft.

Orlando residents are quite displeased to learn of the disappearance of the swans.
