The winners and losers from last night’s VMAs

Last night the 2026 MTV “Video Music Awards” took place in LA at the Peacock Theater and the show had a little bit of everything for everyone.

The show opened up with a performance by Madonna, who later won the VMA for “Artist of the Year,” among others. She beat out other nominees in that category, including Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen and Bruno Mars.

Another highlight from last night was when Kacey Musgraves took the VMA stage for the first time in 5 years to pay tribute to Dolly Parton. She sang an awesome rendition of “I Will Always Love You.”

Taylor Swift was awarded the inaugural Artist Director Award award and also took home the award for “Video of the Year.” She spent most of her acceptance speech giving love and respect to Dolly.

Another cool moment was Nirvana being awarded the “Video Vanguard Award” and Krist Novoselic giving all the credit to Kurt Cobain while accepting the moon man.
