New York State Police said in a news release that troopers arrested Brandon Mcrae, of Johnstown, New York, after seeing the inspection sticker during a traffic stop.

A photo of the sticker shows it to be crudely hand-drawn, with the letters “NYS” and “2023″ visible.

Troopers told the Times Union that Mcrae will face a felony charge of criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Police told WRGB that Mcrae’s car had not been inspected since February 2021.

Sheriff’s deputies in nearby Fulton County arrested a driver in July for having a fake inspection sticker. In a photo shared on the department’s Facebook page, deputies said the “very poor attempt to fake an inspection sticker” was found during a DWI arrest.
